Pinning the crank pulley

Hi all. I recently bought an Aug 2015 Challenger Hellcat and have been reading a bit about pinning the crank pulley to avoid slipping but cannot for the life of me understand why this would need to be done on a reasonably new car. Anyone know the story behind this and why it is still an issue?
