The MSD dizzy is based on the GM HEI dizzy.

Correct. It is based on the HEI but is not identical. Same with the internals.
I doubt anything other than another MSD cap will fit. They do come with both the HEI type male terminals OR the normal female sockets. So if you need the other kind you can get them from places like Summit Racing

Pretty sure only a MSD Cap will fit MSD dizzys....they got that sorted

You'll need an MSD cap for an MSD dizzy, they have the silly push with a screwydriver L-shaped fitting, plus the option of screwing it on.....The rotor cap for the MSD is pretty massive. Get the cap style that fits your leads ;) What has happened to the old one? :?
