318 questions

Post by Anonymous »

I've just bought another 318,and loads of bits,4 heads,Mallory distributor etc. There was a cam in with all the stuff but it looks to new to be part of the engines I got.is there any measurements I can make to tell if its standard? The heads all have standard sized valves, and look stock, but I'm told the stuff came out a Morris Minor 1/4 mile car...??? It also came with a remote oil filter,is this of any use to anyone?

Do you think these would annoy the neighbours???

Is the remote oil filter the solid pipe one with a mounting bracket either at the front of the motor or at the back?

Never seen it in a car, looks like it fixes to the inner wing?? I'll take some pics on Monday. It comes forward to the front of the motor though.maybe sits just in front of the head?

Get yer Vernier out and measure the base of the cam lobe (across the narrowest part), Now measure the lift (Top of cam lobe to base) Subtract the first measuremant from the second and this will give an approximation of the lift. You want to see .484" 8)
