Appart from the cam being shagged , in need of a complete rebuild , # 1 & 4 mains look pretty good.

Are you gonna replace all the main/rod bearings?

I think we'll put new bearings in, yeah (just to be sure).

I used Lumenition in my VW Beetle and it was the best thing I ever did. So you don't rate them for Chrysler application then? What is FBO?

Tim has finished the chassis leg cancer. Behind the battery tray was a bit manky but he's done another excellent job. In the meantime he's dropped the K-member and I've found a new pair of KYB Gas-a-just shocks that match the rear to fit. Plus some sway bar bushes. The rest can wait for powder coating and all that tarty Bananarama! for another year....

Oh, one more thing. The car came with a new pair of replacement torsion bars. The ones on the car seem ok and before we change them we've compared the sizes - they look the same. BUT the numbers stamped on the ends differ. The ones off the original car say 487 front on one end (front) and 779 (on rear). The replacements i have say 109 on the front and 780 on the rear end. DOES THIS MEAN THEY ARE DIFFERENT? SHALL I BOTHER CHANGING THEM? ARE THEY RATED DIFFERENTLY FOR ENGINE SIZES OR SOMETHING?

That paint will look great against some sweet wheels and a clean interior.

Do you reckon it'll be ready for the summer? There's getting to be quite a lot of Yank muscle around South Lincs now.

Ed - funnily enough I was emailed pics of your New Yorker this morning. I think it's a new yorker anyway! Looks the don. Nice work - the thinking man's Charger.

My '68 will be on the road for summer for sure. Hoping to have it MoTd by my 30th birthday in mid February! TIm's done a top job with the metal work. The engine will be done in 2 weeks and then I will get it on the road with no headliner or carpet. Hoping to get that for my birthday

but have already ordered the vinyl roof. Paint will be a constant evolution of wet flatting and repairs I think. Rims? Tempted by black steels and redlines...

Pete - come on and move up. We need more yanks for a Stamford Detroit Stampede night every month or so...

No, it doesn't exist Pete - that's the point. WE SHOULD START SOMETHING! I know Tim @ Roadhouse is thinking of having a bbq and band night at his workshop for rods, dubs and muscle.

Right fellas - it now looks like I'm working on creating some of sort of loose South Lincs retro/muscle/rod/antique metal club. Watch this space for more. Tim @ Roadhouse Retro is keen to use his place as a possible meeting point. We're already working on names and decals!

Forgive me Ed, seen your post and now know she's a big fat 300, not a New Yorker.

ivor - fear not, I'd never drive on cross plys - they;d be radial redlines (cool but hideously expensive)
