727 CONVERTING TO KICK DOWN CABLE ....help !!

Post by Anonymous »

hi does any one have any pics of how to set up a universal kickdown cable for 727 torque flight onto a 750 holley ???
also wen its connected up how does the actual kick down work???
does the cable have to be tensioned so the linkage on box is being pulled and does this rely on throttle spring to pull it back as mine seems throttle is slighty open ?? i basically need to know how to set up cables correctly etc??????????

The Lokar cables come with a nice clear instruction sheet. Not sure what you guys are using but I'm sure the same instructions would get you there or thereabouts.

Is this a Lokar or similar?............the cable kit should come with some brackets of sorts , the cable is mounted to the front section of tailshaft housing which then pulls rearwards on kickdown lever , the other end connects to the bottom portion of throttle lever , adjustment is carried out on the bracket that holds the cable to manifold/carb bolts.

Now you're just showing off with those posh ally brackets, aren't you, Drew.

What's wrong with a bit of plate bashed to shape with a hammer ?

Yes the upper lever is for the kickdown. You need to use a light spring to hold the lever forward so the cable has a little pressure to pull against. It also helps if you cable tie the cable to something at the point where it loops forward at the rear of the box. If you don't do that the whole cable moves and you lose a lot of it's travel.
