Carb query

Can anyone tell me what make and model carb this is please?

Is there a rebuild kit available for it or, would I be better off just replacing it with a new carb. if so, what's the best carb to use?
The current set up is a 383 with 727 auto, all standard.

I can tell you it's a Carter, and you should be able to get a kit for it once you find the model no. Sorry can't be any more help than that.

Note any numbers on the main body and google them.

its one of the carters that Edelbrock based their performer AVS carbs on

came in 500 650 (2 small and two big holes) and 800 cfm (4 bloody big holes)

but not a big as you get in the ones with the plastic body and its not one o them

good carb

no joints or gaskets below the water line
no diaphragms to blow out
jets and rods and springs
tuning kits £40-50 from real steel and others

If you have not already spotted it, from memory, the number should be stamped here....

I like these carbies - clean it up, put a kit through it and keep it!

Thanks VGVIP, had a look and took a couple of pics, it looks as though the number is "M7 4401S", at least as far as we can make out it is.

If anyone can confirm or advise differently, that would be great.

Carter AVS 4401 I think, google it and see what comes up.
