Yep, don't know if its still current, prob is...but your right 1000ft
It was the drivers apparently who wanted it, making it safer racing, less expensive on parts as they say most damage is done after 1000ft etc etc, and of course Kalitta, 320ft less wouldn't have saved him.
So they'll just lean harder on the motor in 1000ft.......Its the end of Drag Racing for TFFC/TF as we know and love it....
Maybe the Lucas TF car at the Nats was the last 1320 foot pass we'll see at the Pod.

The difference is minimal, approx a tenth, so on Capps 3.9 it would be the difference of the fastest ever 3 sec FC run as opposed to just another low 4. At that level gaining a tenth is like .5 sec on a 9 sec car...........
However a lot of cars can do damage at around 1000ft, pistons etc.....so who really knows how much the difference would be over the quarter.
Its like 1/8th mile racing...it sucks in my books

I initially thought that, but seeing cars run the 1/8 th the acceleration difference more than makes up for it in my opinion.Les Szabo wrote:Its like 1/8th mile racing...it sucks in my books
Especially the outlaw 10.5's, boy do those babys move . . . .

thats what i was thinking , after the scott kalitta crash went to 1000ftbig block wrote:Is that 1320 ft or 1000ft ,I thought all top fuel in the states was 1000ft now, as its going to be at the pod for FIA top fuel rounds or so I hear.
they put a limit on nitro persentage ( thinking 94% ) too i believe & think gearing also ,
wonder what these moden areo dynamic cars , with the recent introduction of these new type blowers would run now with the 97 / 98 % + nitro they use to be alowed to run
