No sooner has it arrived then I am pulling it apart

Wilwood brakes going on the front (half way through that and using Guy's thread for guidance!!!) and also upgrading the stock axle shafts to Mosers with 4.5" BBP to suite the front Wilwood hubs.

Need to get some wheels - will use the A12's Steelies in the interim, so it will look the same as the pictures....

That would give me the potential to get a spare set of 15" rims with slicks for the odd quarter mile blast.

Need to fit a rev limiter before I do that, and with a bit of spray it might even run a "10".

Superstock material???? ;) ;)
Deffo SS material Pete ;).......10's? well yes why not, SB's luv the stuff!...only limiting will be the axle ratio, and perhaps converter, again its the old compromise of a street car and in particular cos the dart won't take much of a tall tyre out back I don't think?...if it can handle a 28" tall tyre, a 4.10 gear and a 175? shot should get you their. I did use a 250 shot on mine to almost get it their but didn't have the motor you got?? and with more weight, so yes...a walk in the park  but the car will be more fun on the street

Can just see that roll up to line with the all black rims, with 10x28's out back, looking like a stock 13 sec car and then going 10.7's, or better!!!!!!!!! :thumbright:

Yep, that's the plan.

It has got 3.55's and they will probably stay, which means the slicks yould not be too tall - 27's or 28's at a pinch and you may get a 10.5" tyre under there.. ..

I would like 275's for the street, but that may be a challenge with stock tubs so a good measure up is in order - it's the sidewall width that gets you every time....

I will not go full spring in-boarding, and even the off-set hangers mean a new set of perches and lots of hassle for only a 3/4" gain, so reluctant to do that as well.

I will just have to research the tyre options carefully....

I think there still is the option of the 8x26" wrinkle slick, reckon you can hook on those Pete.....maybe the way to go?...

I'm sure you'll sort it, and yes leaving it as much as a street car as poss is best, be interesting to see how it performs with 3.55's. If I remember correct, the 340 ran 13.3's with 3.55's and all stock on motor with just a 484 cam, and I believe 8x26's....thats why I bought it, could see some potential there. ;)

Tbh I felt that the 340 motor responded better to tuning and N20 than the 440 back then, maybe Jon would agree?....better heads for size of Piston and all that old stuff.....with the advent of SB strokers up to 430ci, ally heads etc., 600hp ain't particularly hard to achieve without going mental on it, and 700 with a more radical motor....less weight, more rpm if you really want to push things, etc. etc....but you guys know this already..

Well, getting on with the installation of the Wilwood brakes today, and ran into a similar problem that I believe Morgan had.

The front discs are made up of several components, and you have to secure the Disc carrier to the hub with T45 Torx headed screws.

Accoring to Wilwood, these have to be torqued to 50ft/lbs.

The first T45 bit chattered on the first screw.

Went and bought another one as part of a set.

Did the first 5 ok.

Next one: it twisted like a Pretzel......

If seems the first one was an anti-tamper one with a hollow end, which is why it probably shattered.

Not sure about the second one though...............

Off to buy another one tomorrow....hey hum.........

Thanks for the Kind words. :thumbright:

Just changed the axles for Mosers with 4.5" PCD and got the Wilwoods on the front.

Unfortunately the A12 wheels will not fit so that has p155ed on my chips and I will have to track down a suitable set of wheels and tyres, but nowhere near as wide / Tall as I had hoped due to tub clearance...
