Lost Barracuda ??

Had this e-mail recently, anyone know of this car? its details are not on the vehicle register, but it is in the same reg number run as Sticky's car.

I am making an enquiry for a relative from the States regarding a car he owned during the 70s in London and sold around 1980. I was wondering if the MOPAR UK club would have any further details on it, or know if a member indeed owned it once upon a time?

Registration was EGW 37J and it was a green/yellow Plymouth Barracuda, likely to have been a 69 model but registered in 1970 and had been converted to right hand drive. Any help at all would be appreciated, as I understand this is a long shot and unlikely to be to the correct email address anyway. As far as I can see the DVLA have it as untaxed since July 1986.

Being RHD, I assume it's a '69 Barracuda rather than a '70? Reg no. looked familier, then I realised it's a few numbers off the red '70 Valiant which was what I was thinking of. There's a green '69 that is often at Shakey that has been that sort of colour forever, don't know the reg. no. but I think Guy knows who owns it. Other than that

There was a darkish metallic blue RHD 69 (or 68?) barracuda at Old Warden on Sunday. Good nick & twin exhausts.
Pretty sure that was EGW---. I only noticed the rego as I thought it was similar to Les' 71 Cuda.
I'll check my camera tonight & post a pic if I'm right. If not just ignore me!

Hi guys, yes, the green barracuda,reg EGW 45J is mine and I"ve had it 26 years!! . don"t remember ever seeing EGW 37J and I tend to look for cars like mine(sad)and usually try to get a photo. Hope it turns up now after this thread

Hi Will mine is silver and the reg is ULM 9 F I am only the third owner I bought it in 1978 and I knew who the other owners were the guy is wrong about being converted some of them were factory built RHD the bulkhead is the giveaway . but nice to see you at the Nats mate

I owned that car about 30 years ago ! still one of the best driving Mopars I've ever owned

Mike they are good to drive all the RHD ones had heavy duty suspension and disc brakes as they were made for the UK , the South African ones were badged up as Valiants and had different bits in them brakes were girling not as good in my opinion as the 4 pot Kelsey Hays ones that I have , note to self get mine back on the road !!!!!!!!

US Built RHD barracudas got the same suspension and brakes as the LHD 340 engined formula S barracuda i think.


i.e "the" handling package....

some darts had it as well but they got 16:1 manual steering rare as hens tooths

the aussies used similar ideas for the chargers.
up sized the torsion bars in a 6 cylinder car faster steering ratio and different shock hardness from the standard passenger car....the manual had some info on it, different colour or colour bands on the shocks to differntiate "performance"
