One For The Buffers

Post by Steve »

Was over at AndyR's house last week as he was prepping his Fury for the Nats. It was gleaming and he told me he used 'Harly Wax' to finish her off.

I ordered some off the interweb and it arrived today. Its a yellow carnauba wax and must be good as its from Long Beach in California.

My brother got me a clay bar for my birthday so when Im driving again, I will give the Polara a good old buffing and see how she comes up

Cheers Steve :thumbright:

Harly Wax is very good as long as you pre wax the car with something else as theres no abrasives in it all, it wont even remove a dried raindrop from the car, ive often used it on dark coloured cars, you can keep building it up and end up with a really deep shine

You probably still need a pre wax or cleaner wax to take off any water residue from the clay baring, the Harley Wax won't lift any dirt off

Ive used clay a couple of times one thing for certain you will not be disappointed its incredibly easy to do and amazing results

Of course theres a myriad of products on the market but which ever brand you chose the order in which they are deployed should remain constant

its important to distinguish between polish and wax

wash -> clay bar -> polish -> wax

I use a combination of Autoglym and Meguiars

wash -> Meguiars NXT Car Wash (purple)

clay bar -> Autoglym clay, lubricant either Autoglym Rapid Detailer or just a soapy solution as above

polish -> Autoglym Super Resin Polish

wax -> Meguiars Deep Crystal System Step 3 Carnauba Wax

good guide on how to clay
