RALLY OF THE GIANTS 2017

Post by Steve »

Hi All,

Whilst at the NEC show, I managed to speak to the events coordinator of the Pre 50s American Auto Club.

Their big event of the year is the Rally of the Giants and will be held on Sunday 9th of July 2017 at Blenhiem Palace in Oxfordshire. The show has historically been aimed at older American cars but it looks like they will be opening it up to newer cars from the 60s, 70s etc in an attempt to broaden the appeal of the show.

We have the opportunity to put on a simple MMA display there and I am keen to gauge the interest we could potentially generate to support this event. Im not asking anyone to commit to it, just after a straw poll of who would be interested before I get back to the coordinator for some more details.

Here is a link to the 2016 event. I believe entry includes access to the Palace which used to be Winston Churchills residence.

Cheers Steve :thumbright:

Yeah Si, I specifically mentioned that to David and he was acutely aware that the NATS was a big pull for people who would normally support his show as well. Will be nice to see how much of a response we get. More of a Show n Shine event but a few members (like me) are not racers and would enjoy this event. Nice one for partners too as there is plenty to see that isnt all car related :thumbright:

I havent forgotten our conversation on Saturday Si. I just need to collate a bit of info and will PM you if thats ok?

Pretty sure that used to be at Knebworth, we always used to go until it started to clash with something else. I'll probably give that a go, it's a nice ride out from here.

Yes Blue, it was at Knebworth for ages and usually a couple of weeks before the Mopar Nats, so we always used to go. Then they had a falling out with Knebworth so moved it to Blenheim but on the same weekend as the Nats

Now it's on a different weekend, we might make the effort...

When at Knebworth it was a nice show to take the family to and I enjoyed seeing some much older tin.. I'd consider it again as there's no clash.

Likewise.... never did like the clash. Always preferred the Damned or the Pistols ;)

The Damned are great! Seen them a few times. Very under-rated.

A bit like RoTG!
