Slip yoke
How much of the slip yoke needs to engaged in the box or how much should be showing if that makes sense .Thanks in advance

you can also get slip yokes, with a longer slip bit... if you catch me drift
but be careful on a trans that has a speedo drive up that end. i know nout about 833s or TFs so no idea if that's an issue
mine has a bellows on the seal original style rather than modern flat, and sticks out about 1/2 inch from that i.e at no point in the movement of the rear suspension would the yoke part rip off the bellows on the seal

Is it set at the middle of suspension travel? Would make sense.

With weight on the rear wheels, bottom the yoke and pull out 3/4” and then measure between the yokes is the usual way to arrive at the correct prop length. I assume you are thinking your prop is the wrong length?

I had a new propshaft made and well its sort of too short at one end ...I dont want to go in to detail but its sort of six of one and half a dozen of the other .....In place i reckon the prop was only in the tail end about 1 inch .....So nothing for it but to bite the bullet and get another one ...A very nice bloke on here up north has saved my arse and it will be sorted ,,,,one thing i will say is the differance in length with the axle hanging in the air whilst the car was on stands,, as to when it was sat on its wheels was nothing. So do not trust the old two inches on stands is one inch on the ground that is toffee... Dragstalgia looms closer and i have entered and as yet although the car starts on the key but it has not turned a wheel ,,no pressure
