Only started on it wednesday evening due to xmas and already........

The whole wheel arch has been sorted now, but I haven't got any photos of that part.

Perhaps a Wheels Day target doesn't sound as daft as first thought !!

Just a quick update on the progress....

Arch, Wheel Tub and Rear Quarter section done on the drivers side now.

Just doing the usual skimming and trimming of the ol' Glen Miller on it.

Roof is coming along nicely too.
After cutting out the 3 tonne plates of iron the last idiot fused into the roof , it regained its shape nicely.

Have welded NORMAL thickness "CURVED" metal into it now, to help with the shape, and it's not too bad.
Much better than we initially feared thankfully.

To be fair it looks a million dollars compared to what it did look like

Naturally a skim of Glen Miller will go over it, but there's not alot else we can do with it really after the total bodge job that was done by the last bloke

Great progress Primer job for Wheelsday.

Both yourself and Craig have welded roofs recently and done them really well.

I am suprised because the one time I tried this (not on a Mopar) I got terrible warping from the heat that took a lot of work with a borrowed panel beating kit to get near right.

Are MoPar roofs made of quite thick steel or are you guys just better welders than me?

Steve I'm REALLY hoping to get it to Wheels Day, even if it's just with 1 seat, open headers, no dash and in primer

Dave, there is abit of stretching there in the roof, but not too bad.
It's where the last guy welding it stretched the metal between the plates he welded in. Because the plates he put in had no shape, but were just flat, he'd bashed the roof about until the edges met, thus stretching the metal rather than warping it.
Check out the pics earlier in the thread and you'll see what I mean.

If this guy never welds a car again it'll be too soon !

It's come out alot better than initially thought tho , going by what it looked like after he'd welded the roof, we thought we'd have alot more agro than we've got
So that roof section I bought from Pascal is no longer needed. We are doing without it thankfully.
Panic over really regarding the roof.

Naturally it's going to need abit of filler, but then again not surprising really after what we were left with to repair
Plus there's a vinyl going on the car so it's not too bad I suppose. (No real choice now anyway.)

We'll persevere Working on it again thursday evening, so hopefully I'll have a few more pics for you

Had a real good evening on the ol' girl tonight

As I said earlier the roof would need a skim of filler,( which goes without saying no matter what repair is done, or who does it, ) and it's turned out really well. Take a look see

There's actually not much in there to be truthful. Most of it's on the floor. It's just got a thin skin that you could probably read through. Just had to refill all the time to find and correct all the high and low points.

But she's looking good

Drivers rear quarter is 99% finished too. Just gonna finish off the roof, then we can put in the new rear deck panel. (we're sat on it at the mo rubbing down the rear part of the roof )

I'm just so chuffed the roof's turned out so good, especially after the fiasco to begin with. It's turned out that good, I recon I could get away with not having a vinyl if I didn't want one !! Well Chuffed

I'll keep updating so stay tuned.....

Adam, I'm well chuffed we didn't need to use the other roof mate. At least nothing's been disturbed from factory as it were.

He'd welded in 3 - 31/2 mm thickness of metal when he did the roof !! No wonder the metal didn't want to shape at all

Still, all is well again now All the battleship hull has been cut out and sunk accordingly, and proper metal put back in.

Sold the roof to Nick on here who also needs a roof (sorry Nick, can't remember your sir name or handle on here). He's got pin hole problems. Lots of them though. But only on one half of the roof.

Maybe the spray gun ran out of primer as his passed by on the production line

I just hope it helps him out as it's better off being used rather than not.

It should also give him the kick up the bum he needs to get on with it.

Can't remember how you got the roof home from the Nats.
