Might be a little big when wide open,
might be worth keeping your 600, as it might run better MPH at the strip
but only testing will see

Was helping a 318 pal at the weekend who had binned his cactus 600vs and fitted a 750vs, but only had 76 jets  for the primaries and that silly metering plate on the secondaries. It was dying halfway up the 1/8th. I then wired the secondaries shut and it ran clean, I then adjusted the wire to give partial opening of the secondaries and it ran best. Will have to sort some jets out for him, but he is on the look out for a 600 or 650 dp. My 318 loved the 600 dp......

Before you ask, I can't remember the optimum jetting for my 600dp as I used to write the jet sizes on the carb bowl so I didn't need to remember them......Possibly 66/71

Hey Miles , the 750 might not be gettin the air speed up to open the secs (larger throttle bores) , would feel pretty responsive with just the primarys opening , check whether the secs are opening (paper clip) , might have to change the spring out for a lighter one with the 318 , baseline jetting should be around 70 primarys with PV , 76 secs.

Engine vaccume plays no part regards vac secs operating , some 750 vs hollys are fitted with 8.5 rated PVs , you may need to change it out for one with a lower rating.

Give the motor full throttle & monitor the vac reading , zero vac will usually indicate a carb too big for the motor. :clown:

Remove the ball bearing from the vac sec pod , only useful on heavy ole motors ;)

Good luck.

Your running a 340 right Miles? I though they came with a 750 TQ from the Factory anyway?

Glad to hear you got the carb OK
Fitted it with #70 jets as you requested miles
Off the top off my head i am sure the power valve was a 6.5

Good idea to use the paper clip method as mentioned by Brutus to see if the secondaries are actually opening

Sorry! Got confused with the super long thread! Cos of the title and the 13s bit I thought it was a bitty 318! You should be aiming for the 12s!!! :D

Bugger. Forgotten it wasn't a 318 myself. Honestly... I'd forget my balls if they weren't in a bag.
