Only my personal opinion (and I'm sure I'll get slaughtered here) but I think Satriani along with Eddie Van Halen are the best guitarists ever!
Of course other people will say that Page, Clapton, Gilmour, Hendrix and the rest were better but I strongly disagree. They were brilliant attheir time but arguably remembered for the riffs - not technical ability.
Is there any way in the World that Page could have ever played this?

Still ROCK but a slightly different, more traditional feel; anyone else into Foghat?
British band that hit it big in the States, mostly mid-to-late 70s. Their 'Live' album usually gets mentioned up there with the best live albums of all time.
Had tickets for them when they were due to play Hammersmith back in the old days but the tour got cancelled, so never saw them
Anyhoo, enuff waffle...
Classic line up

original singer not long before he left us
and finally
after the singer/guiarist had died, this one features ex-Ted Nugent singer/guitarist Charlie Huhn on vocals plus a couple other line up changes.
Still faithfull to the original version of the song tho

Seen him live a few times,does some cracking Hendrix Covers also.
Via and Yngwie Malmsteen probably the best technicaly
But agree with Jem on Satriani and Van Halen.
Ii must like his song writing.
Another two i like a lot are SRV,Hendrix and Eric Johnson,the best guitar album i have is by Eric Johnson..but more country and blues.

Man I just love this thread! It's great to know there are a few of us guys who love this kinda stuff.
Not sure if I've posted before but here's another band who's debut album would definitely be in my top ten. They were tagged as a 'supergroup' at the time and was a massive departure from what Neal Schon was doing with Journey. And Johnny Gioelli has got a voice that was made for rock!
Apart from Hardline he also did most of the vocal work on Axel Rudi Pell's albums.
Schon left after the debut and the follow up album was very disappointing in comparison.
Anyway, it looks as though all that's changed now with their latest release which captures the vibe of the debut. Apart from Gioelli it's a totally different line-up now but good to see a chick in a rock band for a change.
