Absolutely mate, I just want to drive it everywhere now!!
And some good news- I'm really thick!
I'd worked out my fuel use for 300 miles... that's each way!! It's actually 600 miles total so I got 16mpg.
I'm pretty damn pleased with that!

16 to the gallon isn't bad at all, all things considered.

So I reckon I've found the latest oil leak...A loose water pump bolt!
My axle is still puking oil out into the catch tank. I'm sure the level is low if anything so I dunno what's going on there.
I'll re-check and if it ain't over filled I'll fit a bigger catch tank
Oh and I need new front shocks- one is leaking pretty badly

Axle breather blocked?

It's been blowing for a long time. When I couldn't cure it I replaced the breather with a bayonet fitting and ran a pipe to a catch bottle in the trunk. It's still blowing...

The new apprentice had her first lesson today...
I've stripped out one front strut to I.D. and see if it's rebuildable. It doesn't look hopeful

See post in Chassis section...

So, current front strut plan is to have new shock rods made by my engineer mate Terry. He's going to make them 2" longer and I'll fit longer springs to give me a bit more scope with ride height adjustment. They'll need to be sent off for hard chroming once he's carved them out.
If it's going to take ages, I can throw it back together with the old rods until the new ones are done.

the axle catch tank needs to be above the axle and the pipe going into the bottom with breather holes at the top. the oil will then syphon back into the axle.

Close Pete but it won't fit my struts. I scoured every catalogue everywhere and found nothing, including Strange.
I'd ring them but I already know how the conversation will go...
'Hi, do you sell spares for your struts?'
'Which model?'
'Don't know'
'Do you know the serial number?'
'No you don't put any I.D. on your stuff'
'How old?'
'Don't know'
'Bye then...'
Thanks Boz I'll redesign it.

Dunc had very kindly given me a horn (steady, this is a family show...) I realised when I went to fit it the mine was wired differently. Well I founs a pair of horns in my local hardware store (Stermat) for £7. I wired them in this evening and they sound ace!
I've also got one of the digital voltmeters Dave999 posted about ages agohttp://
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360680342142?_trksid ... EBIDX%3AIT
£1.86 delivered
My fan controller (also a Dave item) has a matching blue LED display so I'll be mounting them under the dash either side of the steering column.
They ain't exactly traditional 60's kit but I care more about accuracy for now.
