I emailed Strange and got a reply yesterday.
The good news is that they were very helpful and easy to deal with.
The bad news is the struts ain't Strange
Back to the d.i.y. solution then...

I've just rebuilt one strut and refitted it to the car, it all went back together easily. Terry is coming Monday to measure up the rods.

It's also nice to know they're designed for heavy cars, and that I can upgrade the calipers easily for just a couple of hundred $$$

has internal relay switching but i'd use to control proper automotive relay to switch on yer fan. they pull 40 amps plus on startup

The AM struts are based on U.S. Datsun 810 series cars, they use the same shocks as the 280ZX, amongst others.
There's a great parts search tool on on nissan4u.com with exploded diagrams and part numbers. There's a replaceable cartridge and by cross referencing the part numbers I found a KYB item available from Rockauto.
So, full of excitement I ordered them from Rockauto.

Within 5 minutes of this, I found them on Jegs. Good news- they're almost double the price of Rockauto.
Bad news- they show the dimensions. At 16" compressed they're a good 4" too long
Dammit. Order cancelled. Back to plan A. Oh, hang on, I didn't have a plan A

I had a great trip out in the car last weekend, about 180 mile round-trip to a car show near Shrewsbury.
I got a last minute invite on Saturday evening , at which point the car was on stands minus the sump, I also needed to check the valve clearances
I got it mostly done, but was up early pouring the oil back in at 6.30am!
The car ran pretty faultless, the weather was great and the show was good, a lot of variety

Great news- the motor is oil-tight at last.. no a single drip!!
My only issue- sometimes when I stop and let it drop to idle, it'll stall or idle low and the AFR goes high, like 18-20. Any thoughts?

Paul, my idle goes high at idle. I can alter pretty easily just using the 4 idle screws. AF changes are pretty immediate. Did you set idle with vag guage or AF guage?
When me and the noys were tuning my car at Shakey the best vag gauge reading did not equate to best/leanest AF ratio.
