Took me 3 hours to do 10 miles this morning. Filled the car up with petrol as I could be a long time getting home tonight! The mentallity of foreign lorry drivers on the M40 this morning scared the hell out of me. Left lane was OK to drive, middle lane very slushy and right lane for snow ploughs only. I was doing 40 in the left lane and several times east European artics passed me in the middle lane at about 60mph, no more than 10 feet from the car in front of it. I Bananarama! by a tidal wave of slush as it passed and could not see a thing for a few seconds. I could have easily collided with it and gone underneath. Needless to say I will not be taking the M40 home!

Nice pics Tazet....looks like a lot of happy birds there. We had a GSW come once but the cat went out the flap and the bang frightened it off. Never saw it again. A big Greenie comes to the neighbours garden but never really see him, just hear him instead.

Had a Red Rumped Parrot once though!

Well it is bright and sunny here in Newcastle as expected but I had a pleasent surprise this morning when I got up as through the night we had about a half inch of snow fall!

I would idealy like about 18-24 inches of snow so i can drive around and laugh at the people that laughed at me for buying a 4.0 Cherokee. :D

This was taken Tuesday night, as it turns out mild in comparison to what we got Wednesday night. Unfortunately didn't take any pics on Thurday morning as too busy trying to get to work, but there was three times as much snow on the cars.

Looks like im gonna be busy this Summer. Im a fitter for Econ, the countrys largest Gritter/Plough fleet. They start coming back off hire around April time, then its flat out all Summer repairs/servicing ready for next season.

I assumed the gritters were owned by the council or the highways agency or someone

Some are owned by councils and highways agencys, most are now going over to hire as a new gritter can cost up to £100k depending on spec, and is a big layout when you consider they are sat idle most of the year. They can hire them in for 6 months with full backup throughout Winter then get shut in April or whenever they decide the weather has turned for the better. When we get them back they are usually in a state as you can imagine due to the nature of there work, that and the fact they are driven by roadsweepers and gardeners.
