I think it is a bit like a 4 speed - a good drive spoiled.....

I am a bit "old school", hence the nostalgia car, & wanting to do it on the motor.

I do not want to say "I've got a 10 second car, some of the time".

I can see the merits of Nitrous forall out racing, but it makes for more complexity and more things to go wrong. Kev & Mad dog are living proof on what you can achieve with nitrous and hats off to them.

You have to tread your own path, but I am with Duncan - Superstock springs and a big lairey motor - and a massive grin. :thumbright:

That's a plan - you can always take it off if you plumb it in sympathetically and do not cut the car up too much. Speak to Roydon.

I have had 2 cars with Nitrous & never used it, so I am not the best advert for it. It is interesting that Blue had nitrous and took it off, and I think Nick Wood is leaning towards a bigger motor instead of drugs.

I'm probably more sensible these days, having a lot of £££ invested in a motor sensibles you up a bit more too.

I used to have a bike with a nitrous kit. Bought it built but knackered. After a rebuild i got the N20 working and took it for a blast. followed by :D followed by

Laughed out loud all the time i had that button pressed, the only thing that stopped me was a change in engine note as the speedo and revcounter needles disappeared off the scale. This was the point at which 2 studs started tearing out of the crankcases.
Lots more time in the garage and i actually had to sell the nitrous kit to fund the rebuild!
Was it worth it ?
Hell yeah!!!

Oh, and the lad i sold it to blew his motor up too

To build a 318 into the 11s on the motor would be prohibitive to say the least, so the nitrous was a cheap option for me as a stop gap to the 440 which is now shelved for the 360. As Db sez it's a blast. 13.42 on the motor, 11.9 on the gas, totally street drivable and even on the motor it's faster than most things round Hornchurch way! 8-)

Kev makes a fair point; the Indy motor is not wonderfully streetable at low rpm. Given the big roller cam it is like a switch. However, it will light both tyres up at 70mph if you want it to

I am sure you could get a simple Nitrous system on for the HRD's and see how you get on.

I am still of the opinion that you need a separate car to go "Jonny mental" in at the track. Buy one of Dave Madders cars (Darts) and build a cheap strip car from them.

i have never been a fan off nitrous adam, only because i had it on two cars and thought i had it sussed but both ran with misfires the passes were faster but the run is no fun unless the mtr pulls hard and sweet, kev has done ace on nitrous but the true masters off it are the surry lads all there cars pick up at least a second most mre like two, if your gonna have a go my advice is to sniff roger luty out he is a sound guy and will either sort the job or guide you through it all the safeguards etc, go for it bang for buck its got to make sense, your car will still be what you enjoy on the street but a brute at the track, go for the best safest setup you can have

Roger Luty is THE Nitrous Guru! 8-) 8-) 8-)

Nitrous scares the hell out of me.

I would rather run slower then use it to be honest. i only ever wanted to run around the 12.00 second mark. But that was a few years ago and a 12 second street car was a fast street car then.

These days a 10.9 is a fast street car.

If i still have the Chally in a couple of years time I might be going the procharger route. We'll see.

Adam, tell me to shut me pie-hole if you want but I think your going to eventually spoil your real sweet car son :mytwocents:

I can see both Alan and yerself are proper hooked on chasing the 11s BUT then it'll be the 10s etc etc which is great but not at the cost of "spoiling" yer nice cars (slowly turning em into race cars)

Why don't ya do what I'm doing and buy a cheap road/race car for your "fix" :?

:drwho:

Thanks for that Smallkiller ;) but at the risk of sounding a spoilt brat , i wanna miss the 11s & go for the 10s. :D

Won't go into it blind , will get as much info as poss , feel a little better now Dunc has egged me on. :D
