ok this is a weird one Blue....my Cuda will not burn out from second ???
if i plant it in the water, or if i bring the revs up slowly ??
I dont know if anyone saw this a few Nats back when my motor just screamed up to 6000+ in second then into third and nothing.... motor screaming but no movement at the wheels
so 3 attempts nothing??... not a wheel spinning
so start in first, bring the revs up slowly to about 4000, wheels spinning and then hit 2 nd then thrid .......smoke city
never touched it even Goef Hauser shugged his shoulders when he came down to the start to watch and advise.....
but the JW 3800 covertor says start burnout in 2nd...what gives ??
works fine if started in 1st
no problems with the box whatsoever otherwise

Steve, either the box or the convertor is slipping, there is no other rational explanation for it. The extra effort required to spin the wheels in 2nd must be showing up a problem. Or it's voodoo.....

Sounds like the clutches in the trans slipping to me.

Not enough power to break the treads away, or gay gears.....

Blue slipping with 116 terminals Shurely shume mishtake
No really I really dont think there is something slipping as the fluid is always red and ii cant feel it slip at anytime and this is a problem that happened at 05 Nats and has never been a problem since, as i no longer burn out from 2nd
Just wondered.....what other signs might there be that there may be a problem...perhaps it is and i should be well in the 11's now ??
its just something thats always bugged me why this is

Well I was pulling 116 at the Nats as well, box felt fine under power but it just didn't feel right during normal driving. When I pulled it apart the front pump seals were shot and found some clown had put the wrong front drum in 12 years ago....
Trick

Didn't Adam try that with the pump?
I understand you have to get the right one for the box?

stupid question, if you dont have a manual valve body does that mean u cant manual shift when racing???

You can shift; you can also shift through. To like, neutral, or even worse, reverse. Don't say you can't, because I have done it on the street.

Can't quite get to grips with this (although I have never burned out a MoPar, no similar problem with GM gearboxes

), but doesn't the car automatically shift into second during the burnout ?
This is what happened with the Grand National. Start the burnout, revs rise to about 2500 rpm, the boxes automatically shifts into second gear and the burnout continues quite happily.
I never gave it a second thought.
Why on earth would anyone want to do a burnout in first gear ?
All the best

It would only change to 2nd if you started the burnout in 2nd or Drive.
If you start with the shifter in 1st, it'll stay in 1st till you move it

I realise that
So most folk don't do their burnouts in Drive then ? I just ran the car in D anyway and let it shift itself. That way it was consistent.
