Got the Dana off Dunc (thanks mate :thumbright: ) , it had new drums , shoes springs , brake lines blah blah , also a 4;54 gearing , so decided to change to 4;10s , also gave me the chance to get it powder coated the same colour as the rest of the running gear , the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ just don't stop.

Thats what I meant by more braking area, as the diameter increase so does the circumference area.

Put another way larger surface area/greater applied presssure increases braking efficiency.

Very, very nice :thumbright:
Thanks Ivor :thumbright:

Main concern is the weight , not the horses , think the Pit must go 4000 lb easy , so with 550 plus the 300 gas , it got me thinking...... if the Pit weighed 3000 lb , i would of probably stuck with the 8 3/4.

Has anyone noticed the new axle stands? , reason for this was the other two ton a piece stands collapsed with me under the Pit. poo,poo :pale:

I was using the stands that are filled with sand , you turn them up the other way to let them down , they've got a round base with a 3 inch tube welded on. Was underneath when the pit started rolling forward & lowereing itself , got out real quick , then the Pit came to a stop when it hit the fence , the axle stands bent between the base & the upstand. bearing in mind these were two ton stands a peice , so now got 3 ton a piece stands , yea i know i should've chocked the front wheels

Was under there today when knot neck started shouting 'oi it's coming down' , he was refering to the garage door which was closing due to the remote in me pocket  i've never moved so fast .

Anyhow , thanks for the nice comments everyone , also to Gary for lending a hand.

Sounds more like egg timers than axle stands, you sure you didnt get them mixed up :D

Had the front of the Cuda up on axle stands & was jacking the rear up to put stands under, when the whole lot started to pivot forward. I managed to pull the car back, but couldnt let got of the car to secure it

Was hollering & shouting to the house for 5 -10 mins before my son came out to help, I said didnt you here me shouting :x

Yeah we all heard you, thought you were singing along to the radio

Quote from your mate Ron on dc.com about why SSBC brakes aren't brilliant....

http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index ... 479.0.html
The problem with the SS brakes kit is that the master cylinder piston bore diameter is too large. What you need is a smaller bore piston...something in the 7/8- 15/16 range to increase pedal pressure. I had a good discussion with Dr Diff and he reported the same complaint with the SS brakes kit from several of his customers. He recommends the small bore master.
