That is right Kev. Better to paint the roof first if it has not already been done.

Of course some of us thought of that years ago when they first got their car.....cough/smirk.

Oh and my opinion on vinyl tops is this.

The whole point of the 2 door hardtop shape/look/style is to look like a convertible with the top up. If your car is not a 2dr H/T then you have a case for trashing the top. Otherwise leave them alone.

I thought the whole point of a vinyl roof on a hard top car was to turn the car into a convertible over time...

Took mine off five years ago, came off easy, just left a lot of glue and rust behind, soon put a new one on. I was even brave enough to fit a new one onto Dave (two lanes) charger

took the vynl off my old challenger by removing the trim and tore it off in strips, it was also stapled to the window frames, when i removed it i also found the roof had completly rotted away from the window ledge area front and rear!

i hate vinyl roofs!

they are so fake they are the old fashioned equivalent to pretend brake discs, dummy aerials, and race-look stick on fuel fillers. They are trying to make the car look like something it is not, a convertible. Ridiculous invention, and they rot your car.

BURN BURN !

if covering your bodywork in vinyl was that good, why wasnt the whole car like it?

and anyone with a 4 door car with vinyl roof.. don't even start me on those!

Unless your car has a perfectly good vinyl roof, and you like it, in which case, its nice.

I like vinyl roofs, it is the only way i will be able to hide the huge welding reapirs around the rotted out factory fit sunroof on the Chally. I may have to fit a complete roof from something else yet, to replace the knackered sunroof, maybe an old Merc with a sliding roof or similar

Mine came of easily, no paint underneath, just a little glue and primer.
I really like vinyl roofs on red cars, but have to say mine wont get one this year.
Maybe next. :D
