Budgie, you obviously have never driven a well set up small block 70-74 Challenger, they are a dream car. The 72-74 cars handle the best, they are balanced, responsive and have a positive understeer, these cars may just be the best Mother Mopar built for the muscle car period. Petty took these cars as mules and worked them into circle track winners. The Challenger race kit cats were awesome. The Aspen/Volare kits were even better. The best handling cars at the time coming out of the USA. with the Police 360ci lumps they were awesome roundy cars. REAL Challengers rule......at the mo?

The M-bodies had a dreadful reputation for handling problems when used as police cars as the transverse torsion bars would lose their settings very easily after a few kerb bumps.

Flowmasters, eeek, not the best sounding silencers in my opinion. Possibly due to the shape (parallel flat sufaces inside) they sound tinny metallic and ruin the sound of a V8.

Cherrybombs or similar, now THATS a nice beefy rounded sound almost like a musical chord .. and you get that beautiful rasp on overrun.

Well I've got both Dave. It's nice to hear that I own one of the best handling Mopars ever built. But then Ive never driven many different ones to know the difference.

This looked like a great photo shoot / day out. Mark, I bet you're glad you bought your car when you did, a green Cuda wouldn't look right in the pics :lol:

I hope the club and the Euronationals get a mention in the write ups, good publicity all round, MMA chairman should have got to have a drive really, (oh thats not me any more!).

Hmm.. Heres an odd thing.

parked next to an actual Challenger (e.g. an old one) the new car actually doesnt look much like a challenger at all. There a styling cues of course (the lights being obvious, the rear roofline) but really its more of a nod to the old than an copy.

Its far too bulky and not enough 'flow' somehow - but heres the thing - When you see a new challenger on its own, it looks just like you *think* a challenger looks. They have somehow carried enough styling over that what you see in your mind is a great copy of the original. Its actually a really clever piece of design.
Only when you see the cars together do you realize how little similarity there is.

V.Clever - and I would like one, but not more than the old. (and that not as much as a Charger :) )

if we get pulled in by this cleaver biit of design

Joe public has no chance

which must mean the designers fulfilled their remit 100 fold

make people want one because its retro queues.

new beetle doesn't manage it
new mini doesn't i don't think
new fiat 500 does

and obvioulsy mustang deffo
