Trans shift shaft seal.
Moderator: Moderators
Job done, relatively straight forward. Disconnect the top linkage from the top shifter shaft. Drop the trans pan, remove the neutral start safety switch and remove the valve body, knock out the old seal from underneath. Replace the seal (I used a nut and bolt with washers to pull the seal down - it was real easy), replace the valve body (put a new filter in, while it `s all apart), replace the neutral safety switch and replace the oil pan (I gave mine a lick of black textured powder coating), reconnect the linkage and refill with trans fluid. Check levels after running - sorted. No more annoying leak - so far!!
Well it looks like us 73 Barracuda boys have been up to similar tricks with our boxes.
Just got to finish fitting the shifter/-6 trans cooler lines/new trans coolers/subframe connecters/nitrous system and controls and uprate the fuel system again
Many thanks to James who came round to give me a hand and take some pictures
