Yep , gotta go taller , was thinking a fuller scoop , sort of a bit wider so it does'nt look so tall if you know what i mean.

my mate put a 302 in a Mk 3 cortina and made his own cowlinduction hood by carefully cutting the original and welding sides to it then using a scrap bonnet to add the length to the scoop so it meets the windscreen, looks good but a lot of work. (he also did a lot of othe body mods , it was a 4 door estate, its now a 2 door pannel van.

Why are you so anti a Glass Hood & Scoop ?
I'm sure you can get one fabricated in steel, but won't be cheap (I know that wont bother you, just pre warning)
I suggest you make some accurate templates in cardboard, to ensure you get the size, perpsective you are looking for.
I do know some good, really good fabricators if you want me to ask. But would need a decent sketch to help them. I can show them the photo to give an idea, what is required.

Don't want to use pins , still want the hood on the original hinges/springs.
A nitrous backfire would destroy anything plastic/glass.

You can hoods laid up with more glass fibre & specify hinge/Spring operation, although you would need lighter springs
Nitrous back fire, no glass generally wont hold up to a large Nitrous backfire.
Do look impressive though, when the scoops launched about 20ft plus
The most difficult part will be the centre ridge, but could always get a former made

i can talk to my man , he isnt too expensive but might need 2 original hoods to work with in order to get it all steel (no plastic bits)

Keeping my front pins and want to brace the inside of the hood to use rear hinges with a weaker spring

i had a word with my body man today, he thinks in the region of £150 if you can suply 2 bonnets in order to keep the original swage line up the middle. he did say that cowl inducton scoops are available in steel to weld in so might be a cheaper option.

I think he's just chosen to ignore you Mark!
I think those steel scoops are the best option though, easy cut and shut job!
