SLOW SITE

depends totally one what is between you and the site
just because its the clubs site doesn't mean its hosted here
and we share that with 700 odd other domains
I think the main servers are in the US in NY. when the US gets up or goes home from work the net slows down (sounds daft but it is true. In simple terms Internet infrastructure is now paid for and utilised by big buisness and obviously they pay to make sure they get the bandwidth they pay for and we share whats left)
anyway
issues can be local to you as well
IE gets itself in knots and can get dragged down by windows as well. any window you open uses parts of the IE browser for display.
and if you are a couple of miles from you telephone exchange or the local cable repeater all you need is the bloke nextdoor to kick off a mega download of "flexible females" and a game on his x box and you are going to suffer
if the whole street does or at least most of you on the same card at the exchange do.... well........ nothing can help until the supplier decides to upgrade your bit of infrastructure
Try firefox its not as tied into the OS as much i.e it should plod on regardless no matter how many other windows go into NOT RESPONDING

It is probably the speed of your own internet service providers that is giving you problems. NOT the ISP the board works from.
I don't have ANY speed issues when using the University PCs as I am now. But at peak times it can get a little slower when I use my home PC.
I must say that even at home the speed is great. I get a good service from Virgin Media.
