Except that if you turn the axle over the car will run backwards in the forward gears.

Just like the Italian tanks of WW2.

Er No guys you would have to point it backwards and have a rubber propshaft for that

Good news guys!
I've spoken to Ray at Hausers, he's sure they can fix the housing for around £150. I'm sure the shafts will then fit but if needed, they'll do a single shaft for £140

This game sure has some highs and lows, last night really was a

experience!

Shame i'll have to grind all my loverly paint off and strip it all out and start again but bloodyhell it could have been SOOO much worse

I think i'll leave it alone for a week or 2, re-measure it all 2 or 3 times, then get a 2nd opinion, THEN send it off to Hausers! Meanwhile...

Sorry to hear of your set-back, Paul; I am sure you will crack it.

I would definitely send it to Hauser's as they have a jig to ensure it is all in alignment.

I would pack it in this close to Christmas and start again when you are fully refreshed.

If you flip an axle over it is now turning the wheels in the opposite direction.

Thanks Pete, thats the plan

Slick- the old axle was fitted with ladderbars which are much less street-friendly. I also wanted to fill the tubs with fat rubber so i needed a short case. Rather than shorten the 8 3/4, I went for the Ford 9" type case to be sure it's absolutely bulletproof!

This is a street car with ladder bar set up, a 83/4, with fat tyre's and has run very low 9's. with no issues.........................

I know it can be done Slick but they ALL have issues including my 4-linked 9"!

An 8 3/4" would handle my measly 475 hp but one day i'd like to go N2O or even Procharger if £££ allows so i'm building to that spec.

That car is a very nicely built munter

Well i donno where i found the enthusiasm but i've stripped the axle case out, cleaned off me luvverly paint and after some VERY careful measuring

packed it off to Hausers

did hausers make (get made) the axle shafts or shorten a set of aftermarket 9 inch for ya?

sorry i'm cluless when it comes to this kind of thing.

i have a mish mash of parts with wrong spline axle for centre and am collecting ideas on how to get it all together with the minimum of fuss.

dave for the power your makin, not takin the slash, cut the shafts to get the correct length and spline, have a tube collar made and slide it over the shaft V the cut joints and mig them together, clean the weld and then slide your sleeve over it weld the sleeve in place, job sorted , had this done on a pretty heavy 440 b body 11 sec car, its still goin strong,
