Wow - responses responses responses! Thanks for the tidal wave of information. I like the sound of the Viper kit (only part of the Viper that's any good I suspect....) but i read the link and it looks like they aren't available anymore. I am guessing with a drum brake B-body with manual steering I wont need to source any alternative stub axles etc.

Is it true the Wilwood brake kits aren't too good for normal Street use? Are they considered the best? I know a lot of people get erections over Wilwood eqmt but not sure my car warrants it.

Will check that SSBC kit or whatever it's called. On the other hand, I am tempted to actually drive my car on manual drums first to see if it's worth keeping her all totally rock stock. It could be suicide. :help:

This kit looks like the SSBC kit that I fitted last year only it's badged as a Summit kit and doesn't include the master cylinder and proportioning valve. Only $530, a lot less than I paid.
There's a load of other kits on their site.

Yeah, I cant wait to get it on the road for a blast. Might use it daily for a few months. We've put Mk3 Golf GTI discs, struts and GAZ adjustable coilovers on. The trailing arms have been left but the Hydrogas spheres all binned. In theory it should handle ok and, as the engine is lighter than the original 1.3 A-series it will be nimble. Ish.

Hope your leaving it looking completely standard, with no hint to your sneaky deception. Discrete exhaust / wheels etc so it's 100% sleeper.

Already sourced VW steels that nearly match Allegro steels. 14s. No body mods or cutting whatsoever. Original tailpipe poking out of back but it will be a dummy. Janspeed stainless zorst will exit hidden underneath somewhere. Even having a special manifold made! Allegros weigh 840kg with A series so it will weigh less. Rover 827 Si does 0-60mph in about 8 seconds and weighs 1450kg. You do the maths ;)

Excellent

Dummy standard exhaust pipe is the perfect detail touch :thumbright:

A lower seat height and a flat cap, for an authentic OAP driver look would be sneaky ;)
