Ha, I took the Dart off the road to fix the brakes, I got a bit carried away with the "while I'm at it". It ended up a bare shell and took 6 years to get it back out. I would seriously consider painting the bay the same colour as the car, it's more work but the end result looks much more appealing IMO.

Your engine bay picture looks just like mine at the moment... :thumbright:
I know exactly what you're going through. I've got all the same issues. Wiring needs sorting. Engine bay needs tarting up. Could do with repainting servo. Could do with frame connectors. Could do with upgrading prop UJ's. But where do you stop. I think yours is worth doing while the motor is out. Mine is going to have to go through a full resto at a later date, so some of the bits I'll have to put up with. I'm desperate to get it back on the road for the summer.
Looking good though, so keep it up... 8-) Keep posting pictures so I can see what I'm gonna have to do as well... :lol:

You always find more things to do than you'd planned but it makes it much more satisfying after because you'll know every inch of the car, it'll all be your work and you'll have it all just as you want it.
I like the sound of your engine bay colour scheme- itching to see it done now!
No-one will believe you...

swindon auto electrics have been doing an amazing job so if you need wiring done bare them in mind

Me and Stu are having similar fun and games with our Barracuda at the moment. It's hard work at times but if we're ever going to learn then we have to get our hands dirty in the process :)

Keep us up to date with how you're getting on. These workshop threads are some of the best on the board lately. :thumbright:

Couple more.
Trans tunnel almost clear. Now spending my time whilst under there scraping (for hours and hours....) looking at other things.
Fuel sender looks easy to get to now car is up in the air and no exhaust in the way... hmmm (add job to list)

ref wiring loom - I decided to just buy a new harness in the end. Reasoning being that I was going to have to modicy the old one anyway due to the dizzy being at the front of the BB and at the back of my SB. Coupled with the way a couple of the wires broke on removal (old/brittle) I decided 'sod it. Get a new BB engine harness and be done'.
Came from Yearone. Got stuffed on both the price changing, crappy $ rate, and of course customs nabbed it. Ah well - never mind.. Onwards.

Love the colour , i agree with kev i think you should do the engine bay same colour as the car , but at the end of the day it`s your decision. :thumbright: 8-)

Don't wanna p$$s on yer chips Morgan , but that harness has no provision for leccy ignition (orange box) , Y1 carry engine harneses for either leccy ignition or points.

Hope i'm wrong & the plug is hiding behind the bulkhead connector.

ooh ! Hope you are wrong too... Will certainly check. Thought I ordered electronic. I have a harness converter from the SB electronic ignition conversion so all may not be lost.

Rats. Irritatingly Adam is right. I ordered a "HU187X" when I should have ordered an "HU187XM" - I even had the right one marked in the catalogue and just typed the wrong one at the point of order.
Oh well... The options are now return and swap (expensive) or modify new loom to talk to ignition. Need to go dig out the convertor I had now, see if I can do anything with that.
(sigh) :roll:

Update - Right - I have this lot (see picture). Is this suitable for modifying the new loom to cope with electronic ? This feels like an easier option than paying a load more fees to the post and customs...

Anyone ? :help:
