What complete and utter nonsense, the noise is what drag racing is all about...it's like going to an outdoor Motorhead concert and them being asked to play quietly...come on!

The problem is, that we British tend to let decisions like this roll over us without getting in early to stop it...it's a bit controversial I know and I don't want to start a poltical ruck, but look at the way the fox hunting ban and the smoking ban were pushed through against the wishes of literally millions of law-abiding British tax payers.

If the facts aren't outed soon and a campaign put into action now and I mean NOW, we could lose the essence of the Muscle car enthusiasts favourite sport.

I haven't discussed this with the committee, and I'm sticking my neck out here a bit, but I'd like to think the MMA will stand together and fight this ridiculous proposal.

I couldn't agree more, this is just another reason to stop going to the drags, bit by bit they are taking all of the excitement out of it.
I'd support fighting this....although if some jobsworth PC killjoy is the ultimate arbiter then we are probably doomed.

trying to figure that one out ourselves Dunc, it isn't legislation, they are on about bringing it in before it is forced on us, it is already in force in NDRS (sweden etc)
this is the bit that grates me, THEY ARE ON ABOUT BRINGING IT IN BEFORE IT IS FORCED ON US,
its like they have rolled over before any fight what so ever, i reckon the only racers that wont mind closed pipes is the classes that already run like that, for me the noise is a massive part off drag racing. i dont go for all this bull that hey my mtr runs such and such through the mufflers, yea great but it sounds toss, will pi55 me off if thats how it all ends up,

If More people make more noise than ever in the intrim, Then going back to how we have always had it would be an improvement. Does that make sense? :?

I vote Ivor pulls his finger out and sorts it for us... DO I HEAR A YEAH?

Note the classes this applies to..........
This rule is in effect over here. Just makes the Pro classes even more awesome.
The "street ;) " c;asses the law applies to still sound awesome as they obviously run FlowMasters and keeps it more "street feel" as if you were back on Woodward or down Battersea Street Racing.

I don't think there are many cars running Pro ET that are street legal are there? And Street Eliminator cars are designed in the beginning around the exhaust system. Surely this will be a massive problem for a lot of existing cars in the classes that are effected?

I think it's the thin end of the wedge.

Kev sez the rules are in place in Oz and you know what the fun police have done over there, let's make sure it doesn't happen here.

These noise abatement types are usually the people that have bought a house next to an airport or a race track and as soon as they move in they complain about the noise.

The house is next to a race track, you numpties, the cheapskates bought it because it was cheap...have you ever thought why?

These people make me sick.

I couldn't agree more with most of the comments made. However, as a Motorsport we are a minority & far outnumbered by the local housing associations.

Avon Park or what ever you wish to call it, is a prime example. Whereby the track was fully established, people bought nearby cheap beacause of where it was & started to build houses.

Then they started a full petition to stop the racing, they havn't stopped it yet, but the track was altered, the 'Wall' was built & racing has a curfew with regard to late running.

Admittidly the Pod has a better location than Avon park, with regard to a less built up area, & unlikely that similar arguements, such as the cultural region of Strattford Upon Avon can be used as part of the objections to noise.

I am by no means advocating we should lie down & roll over, just that we need to gain support from other motoring organisations.

We also need to consider the other forms of motorsport, that have already been hit by noise regulations. I remember 10 plus years ago, my mate struggling to get the noise down on his Darrian Rally car,to meet the decibel criteria.
