havin a laugh...dunno
yeah mebby but maybe not
i couldn't afford it or justify it anymore.
cost me 2 k to have the rear 1/4s rear valence ducktail doors bottom 6 inches of sills and detail (painted stripes) done and my car is 1-2 foot smaller in all dimensions (thats weld up fabricate and hammer...then paint)
not at JPC i might add but......
if you can't do it yourself you have to have someone who needs to pay pension NI tax general insurance heat light and all the associated costs of running a business do it.
if i prepped a car for paint and the painter said yep its fine where's me spray gun
i'd be suss..
any painter worth his due is going to re do half of what you have done already...because they do..... you become a rolling advert for their skills and a good paint job is not made good by the spraying alone
so you are paying for the prep and the paint and the expertise regardless
10% or less of the time will be actual painting. the rest is prep and rubbing down and buffing and all the stuff that gives you sore hands
it just costs lots and lots and that's it

JCs work is top notch, but there is other places out there that would do just as good paint job for a few grand less, so a guys gotta shop around.
If you can afford it and justify it, then Jcs your man.
But just because hes the one a lot of guys use on here, dont dissmiss other painters or bodyshops.
And this is not a dig at you Clivey or any other of JCs customers, but when you guys win awwards for your cars, its JC and his team that the award should really go to.

The car owners are just the money men.
Right had my first rant after 4 years of being a member, i feel much better now.

It's hard to believe anyone would pay 10 grand for a paint job. Mine cost me 200 quid for materials and a few weeks work. I drive the car every day for most of the year and leave it unattended in car parks. I wouldn't be comfortable doing that if I had just paid that sort of money for the paint.

Whats the point on spending 10k on a paint job, as mick says you would be scared to use it and would be really anoyed if you sctratched it.

And as for you RRUNNER, ive seen 70rtse,s car and so far it looks imaculate, and also i painted the engine bay and floors, and the paint looks gorgeous and it cost a lot less than 10k.
so you can get a good job for under that.
I know JC has his bills to pay hence the price of his work, but not everyone can afford to go there, so dont make out like cars that arnt done at JCs are crap.

i totaly agree on that craig, 2k is plenty for a very nice paint job, inc all prepping so long as the body was not Bananarama! would not be to fussed then about gettin any bits off marks on the car,
but jpc is one off the cream places for body and paint, if you want the very best spend the big dollar, i would sooner put it in to a race engine, horses for courses,

Mate of mine had his Rod painted nearly 2 years ago, two colour candy paint job.
Was £13k, he was happy as the guy wanted to charge home another £2k for additional work, which he avoided paying.
But it is flawless, doesn't matter where you look. Me, I think its excessive, but he loves it & certainly makes the car.
Then again, he can't understand spending shed loads on an engine.
Horses for Courses, or what ever floats your boat. Pick your budget & go where suits you best, just don't knock those who wanna pay
