Please remember that this messageboard is first and foremost a forum for discussion of Mopar and muscle car related issues. The club exists for this reason and it is the club's responsibility to Members who pay their subscriptions, to ensure that the messageboard and Connected magazine service that requirement.

If off topic subjects were to be included in the printed Connected magazine, members would quite rightly question their inclusion. On the messageboard we try to maintain a more relaxed attitude, however there are two issues to be considered.

1. The common interest of the club is Mopar and American Muscle car related, this is why members pay their subscriptions.

2. The messageboard is very active and disk space and bandwidth are finite. In order to maintain an acceptable level of service it is necessary to try and keep postings within the theme of the club's focus. This isn't just pertinent to this thread but rather an issue that has become increasingly pressing.

Might I suggest that other suitable forums are sought out for lengthy discussions of issues not related to the focus of this messageboard? Alternatively email the member you wish to enter into such a discussion with.

(Please note this is intended for general consideration, it is not addressed specifically to Hugh).

Thanks, Martin.

Its no worries to me Dave to be honest. But your right I seldom believe anything in the papers but on the other hand how can you expect me to believe the guff PETA pump out?

Your saying dont believe what you read in the Media Machine, but here, have a look at these facts and figures these are the truth!

I agree to a point Martin, though i thought 'general stuff' was exactly that, 'general stuff' like funny pics, vids, etc.

of course i agree that the mag is mopar only, but surely the forum (as it used to have) should allow discussion of other topics, after-all, we don't all just have cars as an interest.

I've been here before, many times over the years, and not just on mma forums, thing is, if we joined a forum for every single interest we have, we'd have to be members of dozens of them, just imagine! as a group it can often be a breath of fresh air to discuss something other than timing or greasy mucky old parts which i lived and breathed for over ten years.

for me now, particularly as i don't have a car and have been largely out of the scene for a few years, it isn't all about cars, parts and technical stuff. I have / had a lot of mates on here, with whom we had a great crack discussing any manner of different subjects. it really is a shame if it's gone down this route too far.

still, you guys are the boss's!

Thanks for your input Hugh it will be taken on board, however I have to re-iterate that naturally the focus of the club must take precedence for the focus of the messageboard and due to the reasons given above, this is becoming more of an issue.

Members understanding and cooperation in this would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry but i do not agree with the Mods on this Sorry! General Stuff should be about anything within reason.I can understand the concern as things sometimes get heated :D but we can hold back and not get to personal.I know it can be a nightmare to mod,but like Hugh Says its a break from talking about cars.

If General stuff is only car related? we may as well just post everything in the Musclecar lounge. And none car stuff in the Watershed ;) :D

If i can not moan here? I'm going to subscribe to that winging pom mag Kev was on about :D do they have a Forum?

can we clarify what is and isn't acceptable then, not rying to be awkward, just curious as to what constitutes 'car related....

Right then, back to the point I was making about rare animals being illegally smuggled across the border in various Mexican muscle cars, to be sold on the exotic pet black market....

Tony, maybe you are a model of self restraint, I don't know, but there are some (who may or may not be involved with this particular thread) that are not. We have seen how threads of this nature can deteriorate.

We all post non-car related items from time to time (me included I will admit) and some latitude is given as that is what some seem to enjoy. However, some threads can provoke reactions that are negative at best. That, is what the mods are trying to prevent.

It is unfortunate that you do not agree but we accept that not everybody will. Its taken as a given. :thumbright:

I understand Clivey and i should have said its a thankless job been a Mod! i did it for a short while so respect to you all for taking it on.
I still feel that we should be able to talk about all kinds of things in General stuff.
Its a pitty that some of us sometimes take it to far me included  still a great club all the same :thumbright:

I agree that MB posting policy will need clarification if we are to address issues that are arising as a result. However before the need for policies there is the option that MB users use their own discretion. Reading through the list you posted Hugh, surely it's pretty obvious which of the 3 or 4 threads bear little relevance to the purpose of the MB?

the minority, who simply can not control what their fingers write with mental capacity alone, always did, and always will ruin any sensible debate they don't agree with, many a debate on here was cut short due to certain members throwing toys out of the pram when a debate doesn't go their way.

I think we are pretty soft moderating the board, but there are those MMA members that don't join in because of it.

Either way, as moderators we can't win.

We have a General Section for off-topic stuff that doesn't have to be muscle car related, but they should be interesting and entertaining and should not include obscenities, personal attacks or politically inflammatory stuff.

The problems arise when people get on their particular soap boxes, particularly when the tub thumping is ill informed twaddle (not pointing the finger at anyone, of course) I'm sorry, but most of us simply aren't interested.

And that's when the trouble starts.
