The difference between an 8 second car and a 6 second car in terms of "feel" will be huge. Once you get under 12 seconds you quickly realise every few 10ths you are knocking off feels like a huge improvement, on a 14 second car I doubt you would even notice it.

Fair enough mate. Quite happy to admit I dont have a clue

To be honest I never thought doing an 8 sec run and then a 7 would have felt HUGELY different but I'll never know

A mid-9 run compared to a mid-10 run is a very big step up.

I have no concept of what it must be like to even run an "8".

Big respect to the guys running the fast times - the speed that your brain has to process information and then make a decision is astonishing....

Try it Clivey, once you get the bug you will be hooked - just look at Jem :thumbright:

Nahhh, If I tried it Pete I'd probably kill myself. I can't even imagine what 0-130 in 10 secs is like let alone anything faster.

in 9 seconds, mate ;)

I'll give your car a "test" at the HRD's to make sure its nice and safe for you. I am sure the barrier marks would buff out..........even on the roof!

the drag race job is a weird one,
high 12,s very low 13,s is a buzz if prior the best you had run was say a 15 flat i used to love runnin the charger at that level had a lot off fun thought i was flyin
next step was a 11,50 awesome seemed to pull forever till you got in top,
next step was 10.80s hard from mid 11,s otherwise, launch but not much else different
low tens next again never really noticed a lot but you just know its faster,
then 8.90s crikey awesome launch and pulled all the way through but then got used to it and used to have a smoke waitin for the finish line
ran the amx on off the throttle never really felt anythin cept a bit off sideways action ran a 8.8 but dident feel like it, time will tell
i reckon possibly no matter how fast you go once you have done it regular the pull after half track maybe not that great, MAY BE WRONG NEVER BEEN THERE, i just suspect that might be how it is

Good post Dunc, interesting to hear what those speeds are like. God only knows what a TF car is like.

I'm a little bit embarrassed to say the fastest I've ever done the quarter in is 13.6 and I was really buzzing, felt like I was in a rocket ship!

I'll get me coat...

Clivey wrote:I know the technology is very different but speed wise? If Marks could do an 8 and the average funny can do a 5-6, the difference is much less than going from a 14 sec car to an 8 sec car or am I being too logical? (only talking in terms of speed perception here rather than reactions to change while on the run). Stop me if I'm talikng out of my ass
Hi Clivey, I'm Paul. I can see where you are going 8 to 5 and 14 to 8 but look at this way.
Mid 8 second pass is going to be about 165 MPH from around 100 Mph for 14's.
Now we'll go from 8's to low 5's. 165 MPH to 300 Mph that's an extra 135 MPH in 3 seconds less time. At 300 MPH a Funny car travels around 3 football pitches a second at the stripe and you need about another 7000 BHP to do it. It really gets your attention. Things get out of shape real quick. Does that give you a different prospective? :thumbright:

Here are a few more stats.
Performance Nitro Funny car
weight 2550 lbs
Horsepower: 7,000 – 8,000
Acceleration: 0-100 mph in 1.0
0-270 mph in 3.2
0-330 mph in 4.7
4.2 g-forces at launch
4.8 max G-force
4.5 negative g-forces upon parachute deployment at 300 mph : :D
