If its an Eldo B, to the rear it will have 59 reversing pods atopped by 60 tail fins (not the usual rocket ship 59 tail lights. Cant wait to see them. They are as rare as the fillings in chickens teeth.

The car belongs to one of my best friends, in fact the guy that got me into American cars back in the late 80's.
It is a 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham, one of only 99 built. Chassis's were shipped to Italy and bodied by Pininfarina. There should of been 100 but they dropped one of the frames in the sea while unloading.

Hahaaa. Knew it. I have a Bonhams catalogue at home with Frank Sinatra's 58 Eldo B being offered. Still has all the magnet-based beakers in the drinks cabinet in the back too. Proper rare cars and hideously expensive when new. Mind you, they attract 6-figure plus sums now so they still aint exactly cheap, even if you could find one. Have to say the 59 is a bit bland for me but its still a very interesting car.Motorama wrote:The car belongs to one of my best friends, in fact the guy that got me into American cars back in the late 80's.

Great auction house Bonhams

Graham who owns the 59 Eldorado Brougham also has a 57 Eldorado Brougham. They made 400 in 1957 and 304 in 1958, these are the ones with the stainless roof and suicide rear doors. His is still on air suspension and has the tumblers in the glove box along with most of the other vanities. Theres probably half a dozen 57/58s over here, Derek Speake of Hilltop Garage has a 58, Alan Carrington has a 57 and another friend of mine in Reading is currently restoring a 58.Clivey wrote:Hahaaa. Graham likes unusual cars, he also has a Facel Vega Excellence, a 4 door with suicide rear doors and 383 Mopar power!

Re that D-type (replica)... Andrew took this one.
And zoomed in, you can see the name...
The guy who run's and owns Thunder road is Cheng, he used to be a member on here, nice bloke, I had his black Challenger rolling shell, he had it for sale at one of the Nat's,can't remember which one now?
We did a deal and he had my purple 71 Satillte/RR look-a-like.
Fair play to him, that D-Type rep looks the dog's

Basically look at the pink car in front on the rear shot you posted, thats your standard 59 model. The 59 Eldorado Biarritz Convertible and Eldorado Seville coupe were just really trim upgrades plus a tri power packageRobTwin wrote:Have you got a pic of the 'standard' Eldorado, so we can see what all the fuss is about, Clivey?![]()
The Broughams were hand built in Italy by Pininfarina and were very subtle compared to the regular Cadillac line up. With the exception of the front and rear bumpers there are no interchangeable body parts with the US built Cadillac models
