Ray Barton has a big 'ol oven to "cook" new blocks, can't imagine he leave's hemi block lying around outside, they wouldn't be there for long! Well this is interesting stuff, I knew about used blocks being preffered because of thermal cycling, but I wasn't aware of the other issues, good stuff!

Yes Terry, I know - I was just joking because I've been phoning round the engine places I know in London and none of them do it, and here we are talking about making the raw castings a year before you need them - I'm not going to get my car to Brooklands this year like that am I
Though it is interesting stuff - wonder if my 'seasoned' bodywork is any stronger?

When Geof Hauser re-builds blocks for you they get a "hot tank" chemical clean. My block was like new cast when I got it back.
He sends engines out for this work of course but they must be somewhere near his place?
