Just made me remember something
Some years back I had a fail on a boot rubber, like yours it only had a small slit and was not rotten.
Cleaned it up (without removing) and put a patch on it from my bike puncture repair kit
Passed MoT no problem

Boot from ebay Universal

Hi Dave999,
How did you get on ref the Universal boot, did it fit ?
Working on the brakes of the VH and saw a split in the upper boot. hence as theres some mixed dialogue on this......is it an MOT fail or not ? hence replace or patch if it is.
Thanks for the pm I pick up the master cylinder probably Saturday from Justin.

How it's going Dave
If it came apart that easy, you have to wonder if the taper was seated proper.
I always use a small clamp to pull them both together and then tighten the nut.

id suggest the bigger ones extra large
the middle one (large) i got was ok but the bigger would be better. you need the length
and frankly you can't beat a proper repro of the original plastic and rubber thingy...
but to get you out of a corner
yes ok will see you for a few years
