Rust Paint

Looks great Jem.... Remember that lunchtime in the london Cafe? I noticed whenever the word rust came up, your eyes sparkled!
Really nice stuff there..... mst be some use in the prop world.
I done a whole guitar in that stuff, well, a product like it.
Try using it with some crackle finish paints for an interesting effect.

I am keeping this Mopar....... SOLD!
Remember it well Jeff and it's when you mentioned how cool it would look on a crash helmet that my creative juices got flowing. Took me ages to find a supplier and finally found the company in Germany.Jeff wrote:Looks great Jem.... Remember that lunchtime in the london Cafe? All down to you mate otherwise I'd have never been wise to the fact that such a thing existed.

Amazing stuff Jem.
Once I get my new kitchen decorated and out of the way I am going to get on with trying to build my 1/48th scale Testors SR-71 Blackbird model. Based on the one at Duxford.
I have not made a plastic kit of anything since the early 80s so I doubt it will be very good but i am going to try my best.
So far I have removed some of the panel lines and scored them back in. I also done a bit of painting on a "aftermarket" interior for it just to get in the swing of things. Bought an airbrush during the week and I am dying to try it but have to finish the kitchen first. Using somewhat larger brushes.

Keep us updated on progress Dave. Don't think there's been a more dramatic plane built than the Blackbird.
What are you using as a base kit? Please don't tell me you're starting from scratch
I've gone off rust painting stuff for the moment. My next project is converting a 1930's pinball machine into a coffee table - as you do.

I had a table top pin table when i was a little kid. The widow next door gave it to me. It had been her husbands and he was killed at sea in WW1 so it must have been a good age.
I remember it was quite big and heavy. Probably an oak board about 20-30 inches long? Maybe smaller. It seemed very big to me at the time but I was only very little.
The steel Bananarama! steel pins and were trapped at different numbers to make up your score.
I loved playing it so much that in the mid-late 60s my parents threw it out and replaced it with a smaller modern one made of plastic. This one was light and portable. Probably about A4 size.
Once I was old enough to get into pubs i could never leave the tables alone. I never took to video games and the like in pubs. But I could never resist pinball tables.

Damn should have gone with my first thought (30's), due to the paint style and decoration.Jem wrote:Cheers Steve. Dated 1936. I've got four others (all different and made in the 30's) that I'll get round to restoring too. Have to say that it was a really enjoyable project.
Very nice Jem love it, good job.
