If you could prove that it's all original, and it was 'when it arrived' I guess you could try, but this is the government we're talking about here, so I guess they'll have some sort of get out clause buried in section 2, paragraph 18, line 12, of the shippers manual part 4

I did quite a few letters for members to help with BTI to prove rarity etc and some were successful but it all seemed to get very tight and Chargers were just a no-no altogether, so I haven't been asked for ages.
I was using rarity in the Uk but I think that wasn't enough in the end.
I am interested to see how this situation pans out if it is working again.

This may be of some help to see where it's coming from now. HMRC lost a case, appealed, lost again and last year were going to appeal again but have now abandoned that. They have a unit set up in Southend for dealing with the applications now and most are being accepted. Our failure was a hot rod!
