I though the Vettes had IRS jag like rears ?? not looked under one for a long time

Look under the back of a C6 or C5 like mine Steve and you will not see a jag type diff either. They have had a transaxle like a mid-engined car since the 1997 model year. This was to give them a 50/50 weight balance.
