We had the snow, now we got the ice - Be careful out there chaps or you might end up upside down in a ditch like we did coming back from London Friday night. Lucky no-one hurt (except my mates ego! And even luckier not my van  )

Just take it steady out there because if you don't treat the roads with respect the first thing you know about black ice is when that hedgerow is suddenly getting closer ... a lot closer !

We were only doing about 50 on a back road travelling in a straight line next thing it was magic roundabout time - catches you out pretty quickly! My mates a rally driver with 20+ years experience throwing RWD Escorts round forests so it's got nothing to do with 'driver skill' but more to do with awareness of what the roads are actually like and adjusting your driving to suit before the worst happens :thumbright:

YEs be care full,if your late your late! not worth rushing.

I have Destroyed a Car rushing to get to work,i used to start at 5 am and often got up to late so i would rush to work to make it for 5 am.

They were anal about time keeping, and you would get a verbal more than a few mins late, then a written and then the sack!!!

If i was late again i was due a serious warning, got up late one Saturday morning and i had 5 mins to get there for 5 am,I went over winter hill Chorley old road as fast as i possibly could.I lost control at 60 plus and stuffed the car into a drystone wall.

The car was worth 4k book price,i was insured 3rd party only!! 4k gone in an instant!! but like the copper said could have been worse its only money,he was amazed he was not dealing with a corpse. He said if i had been in an old escort/sierra i would not have lived to tell the tale.

Work decided not to give me a serious warning and told me to have at least a week of sick to recover.

I still have nightmares about it! its mainly because i had a stupid 3rd party insurance, but i though i was the best driver and did not need fully
comp.

I was a lot younger and dafter,i was still paying for the car on credit for a good year after i had killed it.

Not governed by speed laws like over here, so Dunc was doing 160 round it as i'm sure he wouldn't do that on a public road over here..... ;)

I believe Ade was on about his own private stretch of dual carriageway near banbury or was counting in kph being an american car related forum... ;)

So that would be 56 mph and within the legal limit!

So there you go, all sorted.............No need for the police to be lurking on these forums because were all law abiding citizens. :D :P ;)
