Think the problem with public transport is that the buses etc get stuck the same as cars etc. Mate of mine went by coach to Silverstone and they got stuck a couple of miles away but, due to health and safety regs, the driver wouldnt let anyone off to walk. If you camp at these events, its a pain lugging your tent etc on foot. Also, to get the full day in you have to set off early and a lot of trains etc dont get you there in time. If whole family go, train tickets get quite expensive. I wanted to go to Olivers Mount last year by train etc, would have been an expensive headache. Add a hike on and its hardly worth going. Motorbike is definately the solution in my book. I cycle to the motocross, thats good fun but the kids wont do it so I go on my own or by car if we all go.
I get the impression that everything is geared around driving but the facilities and roads just cant handle it.

Not having a go at you personaly mate.Just that a lot of probelms are caused by our car mentality.
I have been to Milton Keynes Bowl a few times on the coach and miseed the first few acts because of the coach stuck on the Motorway, and then having to take breaks at service stations for driving regulations.
I know what you mean about the public transport been a little late to start, when i have been to the Golf in the past i have arrived late morning, when most people get there at 6 am

If i am driving I always try not to rush home after an event,i will have a meal in the town and then miss the traffic going home.

I totally agree with you Tyreman, we do depend on our cars too much. My point is really that if Im paying £80 to see a band at the bowl then I want my monies worth. I saw Bon Jovi there years ago.... Cant remember how much I paid but it was a lot more than seein them at the NEC. Therefore I want to, and did, get there early to see billy idol, the manics etc etc, or else I would just have bought a ticket for half the price for the NEC. Car the only option but as you did mate, I just let the masses fight there way out and have another beer.
Good point re F1 bein for TV but while they charge 100,000 people £200 for the weekend (£20 million) and £40 for a t shirt, and £25 for a hat and £6 for a burger, im convinced its a spectator sport!

I was at the same Concert

i went to see Billy Idol

not Bon Jovi of course.about 20 years ago that now.
Its rare i go to concerts now,i do not like been held captive and having to pay the silly money for Drink and Food.
I will only go to events like the Nats where you have a CHOICE you can take your own beer and food....if you can not do that at an event they can Bananarama! off!!

Great fun and great beer! Lot of good bands doin small gigs now...... Recently saw the Civil Wars at the Digbeth Institute (old theatrey type place)... Awesome! Jef Leppard in a couple of weeks, great tribute, £5! Talon (eagles) last week, nearly as good as the real thing.... Dont give up on it mate, some great bands out there still need to make a living. Check out the ELO experience for oldies like me
Cheers Steve,
