That is why there was never any job on my car I didn't learn to tackle myself. Body paint being the only exception due to lack of facilities.

Chevy is not a bad word around here darren, I wished in some ways I went Chevy back then, only for cost purposes per ease of hp per cubic inch. A chevy engine can be thrown together with odd bits and only last 3 miles.1stpop wrote:I really wish I'd brought a Chevy . I know it's probably a bad word around here. But the only person local I found to help is a c!?k
Your problems are not down to the make of engine, its down to the person who threw it all together, its tough when you find everythings crap, but you got a good engine now, get someone reputable to build a good box for you and your there!...in the mid to low 11's

I had my gearbox from england to germany in 4 days via (pallet ways) for 120 euro
440 engine with starter carbs ect cost me 280 euro also in 4 days
Im in germany and im having everything strapped on pallets and shipped over from england.
Dont rely on somone local rely on someone that is the best at what they do.

VGVIP
Hi 1stpop, good to see your VG in the club by the way. Remember chatting to you briefly on RnS when I read your thread on the VG there.
Sh!t. I would have thought there would have been loads of play without the thrust washer and could have let go in a big way.
Sounds like a big stuffup though.
Been reading other threads surrounding this, one name seems to keep coming up?

I had my Truk box (RV8 Borg Warner jobbie) 'professionally' rebuilt by a local firm for over £600. It was fine for a year or 2, then rapidly went downhill and finally ate itself alive!
I took it to Dunc and he pointed out the converter had never been opened up so couldn't have been cleaned, most likely some crap had eventually dislodged and started the self-destruct process.
Dunc had to replace virtually every moving part just because some twt who'd been paid a lot of money didn't do it right!
It's been faultless since and was a LOT less than £600!
Thanks again mate
