No Mick, I'm keeping that in, I just wanted to put a back seat in so that the dogs have somewhere comfy to sit & I wanted the interior to look stockish. I've found a couple of B body front seats from a '69 GTX so I'm going to try them for fit this week. Just wish Terry hadn't thrown out the original front bench grrrrr!

It's been a while since I have had any spare time but after spending yesterday at Billing I thought Bananarama! it & went home early & had a go at trial fitting my new TTIs. First off the torsion bars didn't want to play ball so ended up stripping out the front hubs & lower control arms to loosen everything up.

Then removed exhaust studs from passenger side

slid the header up from below & everything was good.

Was getting late so called it a day, only had an hours work to do today so attacked the driver side, couple of exhaust studs broke off,

I'll have to pull the head off & drill them out later but for now I lifted the motor up as far as it would go, removed the steering cross link & the starter & the header still wouldn't quite go in, so removed the roll pin that holds the steering column on to the steering box, slid the joint as far back as possible, jacked the car up another few inches & the header just squeezed past everything.

Bolted up with just a couple of bolts each side & will have to do a small amount of clearancing on driver side to clear steering pitman arm.

A little bit to clear the steering box

All in alll they are a very good fit, considering they are 2" primary's & the TTI website says they don't fit a low block with stock heads, I didn't want the small 1 3/4" primarys & as these will fit with raised port heads I thought as the only difference with stock heads is that the ports are 1/4" lower then the most that anything could interfere would be 1/4"! So anyone thinking of this, they will fit with only a small amount of work, but you will need to use a motor plate or elephant ears to restrict movement.
Car now back on the floor & sitting much much lower, next job is the exhaust system then strip it all out again to get it all coated! Oh & fill in the holes where the fenderwells went!

Yeah there fun . Lol.
I've taken mine out at least twice at the track, to replace the starter.
I slide both torsion bars out, unbolt one side of the steering link, unbolt the engine mounts and jack the motor as high as it will go and tilt.
BTW, The first time I ever saw your Dart was at billing.

It should end up at slightly lower than stock ride height, I'll get some taller tyres for the front to help. Just have to be a bit carefull on speed bumps. Haven't pulled the head yet, Tony is going to make up the exhaust system & I'll take it all apart after that, do the head while the exhaust is getting coated.terryr wrote:nice one rob ,should handle a bit better now you have dropped it down , mind you you wont be able to drop her that much with the sump that's on it ,what were the pistons in there ,as I never had the engine apart

Had another productive day on the car today, Ollie said he'd help

One look & he changed his mind

"I'll just sit here for a bit"

"On second thoughts Bananarama! this I'll have a lay down while you get on with it!"
So the drivers view of the dash was like this

I'd always planned to move the tach & the autometer gauges & leave the original dash in working order so

All stripped out, the radio hole had already been hacked about when I first bought the car circa 1986, terryr just added the fuel guage

First thing tidy up the aperture & make it large enough to accomodate all the guages in a shiny new dash plate which I had already folded up some time ago

Now with holes cut for gauges
It fits quite nicely & I have marked the back so as to be able to re-install the heater controls at a later date, once I sort out a heater/AC unit

Guages are angled towards the driver, space to the left is for a couple of extra switches for well you know extra things!

All back together, much tidier look, well I think so anyway!

Cheers Blue, I'll let ya know if I need it, was going to get one of these http://www.classicautoair.com/67_72_Dod ... ng_AC.html it only needs the original controls which are fine. I spoke to them & they will supply with brackets for BB & longer hoses with loose ends so I can route & cut to fit. The only thing I could do with if you have them will be the fresh air boxes & doors, mine only has the driver side & that's pretty Bananarama!.
