No it was a Hemi car
I later met the owner at a car show and he ended up mentioning it, i asked where he lived and was it for sale about 1979/80 and realised it was same car :roll:

There was a guy in Hayes Middlesex that used to put old taxi diesel engines in American cars.

There was a guy in my workshop used to do that as well, Cummins XJ6, York Suburban, MAN Day van and more. The lure of the red diesel....

I heard of a guy who bought a Kawasaki two strok triple 500cc H1.
They were Jonny mental back in the day but this one did not go too well.

He stripped it, expecting to do a de-coke and found a tennis ball attached to the centre Con rod, which conveniently stopped the rod scraping on the bore, which was nice......... :roll:

You do not need to go back far for these storys.

My mate Gareth found a Grabber Blue 69 BOSS 302 Elimenator Cougar in a Scrapyard in Manchester in 2007 the real deal minus the BOSS motor.

He imported a Standard rust free 69 351 Cougar from a dry state.

He repainted the Cougar to Grabber Blue,and put in the Blue interiour from the Real BOSS 302 and Also added all the real elimenator bits to the New Body minus the BOSS Tag (he was to honesdt to do that) it was a lovely Eliminator clone,and he had the Body and all the tags vins history paperwork for the Real BOSS 302.

Gareth was not out to make money and knowing i like Cougars he offered me the 69 Clone(see pic) and also the BOSS 302 Shell and everything minus the 302 motor(see pic)

6k only for the lot! worth it for the clone alone! without the BOSS needing a full resto.

But at the time i had the 71 Duster and the 72 Petty Roadrunner so i could not afford aford another Car :( i should have sold the Duster or the Roadrunner at the time to buy the Cougar.But i doubt i would ever be able to afford to get the BOSS 302 restored so i let the deal pass.

He swapped the Clone and the 302 for a late 50s Plymouth Fury and he sold that soon after for about 11k so good for him i did not have the 6k to pay him.
