Maybe a 70 onwards Barracuda? But equally sort after as much as the Chally which usually means ££££££ depending on what model you are after. 71 onwards Roadrunner or Chargers are starting to fetch decent money and possibly more about too.

I'd seen some of these adverts before,
The Satelitte certainly looks good but I'd never heard of them so I'd have to do some research.
I've never been a fan of Chargers tbh, solely based on the front grills looks
The white Chally had caught my eye before but I suspect it's out of my budget.

It looks like a "finished car" but I get e ver so confused over power outputs/performance of American cars.
I know torque is w hat a muscle car is about. But what sort of 0-60 could I expect from a car and engine like this? 150hp from a 5.2 doesn't. Sound. Like much?

Its a Satellite and not a Roadrunner by the look of it.Nice looking car but a clone i bet,i can not see anyone in the UK willing to pay 27k for it.

Sounds like its a 318 V8? more info needed.

I'm trawling the net to find out the difference between a 72 road runner and a 72 satellite.
I like the styling bu t I guess the. Roadrunner is prefable?
If it is the318 then it's going to be a bit "slow"?

HI Stuart,just looks like a Satellite to me,has the Satellite Front Grille rather than the Roadrunner(See Carls Petty) the Interiour looks like Satellite rather than Roadrunner,and also the Owner mentions Satellite Roadrunner in the Description so sound like he means its a Roadrunner clone.

Satellites can often be a Better spec car than the Roadrunner to confuse things more

A 72 Roadrunner vin should Start RM23 Roadrunner engines for 72 340ci 400ci 440ci 440+6(ver rare)

Most 60s 70s stock Musclecars have a 0 to 60 of about 7 Sec's but plenty of good ones in 6 Seconds or less.You can get a repectable time out of the 318 our member Kev got one into the 11 seconds quarter mile so must be under 5 secs 0 to 60?

Welcome to the club Stuart, your deffo in the right place for what you want!

If the Challenger is the car you want then go for it..........but be aware that you have chosen probably one of the most expensive on the market to attain!

As for liking other Mopar cars these are like drugs, never liked the 71+ B bodies or the pre 67 A's.........I would now chew my arm of too own one or any of them.

The longer your around and the more shows you go to, the more the varying shapes and styling ques get to you, so whilst the Challenger is a greeat car with good resale, there are many out there that can tick all the right boxes!

Trying to be sensible (and knowing nothing about disability mods), i'm not sure what exactly is entailed in modifying a car to suit. Nobody.......Or very few buy a car for investment, so if resale is not an issue the thats okay.
But if it is, cutting, modifying and adding to the car something that cannot be reversed back, may well affect future sale value and ability to sell (many who have £20k will want unmessed with cars)!

Another thing worth noting is Mopars are the most expensive of the big 3. The majority of Mopar parts carry a premium (10-30%) over what someone with a Ford or Chevy will pay, so be prepared to pay that little extra for a true muscle car !

All that said, if you still have the itch that has to be scratched, they are some of the best cars out there!
You will also become part of one of the best American car clubs in the UK, who's members are amongst the most friendliest and knowledgable out there. They also play a big part in the No.1 event in the UK (Mopar Nats)!

Just be prepared to lie to the wife a bit more.......Lifting the hood will cost £100 in shipping alone............

A very. very basic breakdown:

72 RRunner = basic car that was built with speed in mind and few creature comforts.

72 Satty = Same car but with creature comforts and less race orientated parts.

72 GTX = Same car again but with all the bells and whistles

In all honesty to the un-trained if you removed the badges they would say that they are the same car!

Car values for similar condition cars:

Gtx, most expensive followed by the RR. Satty would be the cheapest unless rare spec!

Right Dave but in stock 72 soec they'd be outgunned by my dead grans Honda Civic ............muscle engines from the factory were dead after 71...... 455 SD Ponchos excluded

Thanks for all the friendly and helpful advice I've received in the last few hours.
Unfortunately I'm more confused now then ever but at least I'm finally taking the first steps to clarity!
I need to attend shows and see what choices I have, it's unfortunate that Challengers are so popular but unfortunately it'd be a shame to "settle" and then regret what I've done. Investment isn't a priority, I always buy expensive and sell cheap, but I'm not looking to buy a money pit which is never right but I am happy to spend money and time keeping something right
However i've already had my Eyes opened to roadrunners but I'm still not 100% on the difference to Satellites? Are they the more "shopping version" where as the roadrunner is the sports model?
The huge options list doesn't help!!!
Performance isn't the holy grail for me but its nice to know its there and I love the sound and throb of a powerful engine.
Can anyone recommend a book, with pictures, I can use to help me?

What you say is correct for pre 72
But a Bit Diffrent to previous years is 1972.

The only GTX in 72 Was the RoadrunnerGTX if the Roadrunner had the 440 engine it was called the RoadrunnerGTX...no standalone GTX model

The 72 Roadrunner had the same interiour as the Satellite just had RR badges instead of the French flag looking Satellite badge.

All the same options on the Satellite and Roadrunner in 72 just that the Roadrunner owners tended to just stick with the Sporty options and the Satellite owners(normaly older) went for the Aircon options and extra comforts.

That is not true either only slightly down in 72 they changed the way the Horsepower was measured so only a small loss in Power.A 72 340 is still a good motor,one of the best is the 400 motor ideal to stroke and make a 12 sec car.

Some of the fastest Musclecars were after 72 just look at your Buick and Pontiac 455s(i know they are rare) but point is after 72.
