Erm..... advantages are.... Dunno really they seem to spay pretty much as good as one another. WB is a little harder with fine airbrushing, but from the gun on a full respray works pretty much the same.
2K only, will not use 1K, just not worth the hassle. I want a good finish quickly. 2K does just that.
But be aware, waterbased paint are still extremely harmful if breathed in. Any atomized paint will not do you lungs any good.

Thanks Jeff.Jeff wrote:Upol clear is what a lot of the scratch and ding doctors use.
I have used it in the past, 1K stays soft for a very long time. So if you load a lot on, in time it will crack or craze as the underlying coats will dry slower than the top coats.
If I were you, go for some 2K clear, easier to use, flows nice and hardens real quick. And you will only need 1 1/2 coats.
I'll use the 1K for purposes of my learning gun control etc. and see how I get on with that then switch to 2K clear with a little more practice before I contemplate putting paint on a car. (based on what autofetish, you and a couple of pain suppliers have all said about 1K v 2K clear).
This was the basis of ordering only 1L of the 1K clear to start with - smallest size I could get.
Also keeps to the KISS principle to start with with no mixing of hardener.
Keep It Simple for Stupid.

Had a go, learned a few valuable lessons not only about gun control but also gun assembly.
I had the air cap seal in back to front and poor material flow and no fan control was the result.
Got that sorted and reasonably happy with my results on a test panel.
Need to block it back and polish to get an idea of how it could be at it's best.,
Next plan is to get some 2K clear and have another go at it.... maybe half the panel so I can compare with these results.
Paint used so far is the water based metallic green then upol 1K clear.
The colour looks a lot different in sunlight compared to the dark shed. Both taken after painting was completed.

Just flatted (is that the right word?) and polished half of it.
Could afford to flat a tiny bit more but can not be arsed just yet! Plan to do a little more once I have a go at 2K and see if I need to flat that.

Hi Steve....great work there! Looks very professional and your prep has paid off eh...
A mate of mind swears by HVLP spraying. I had a go recently and its a very easy bit of kit to use and great results. Just dont do what I did....face mask (eventually), flip flops, shorts and tshirt. Was scrubbing myself for days to get it off.
I had a bit of paintwork done on the Polara last year and I now have a modern paint code that matches the original colour well. Think the days of matching by eye are well gone now with these paint matching gismos.
Keep the pics coming mate,
Cheers Steve
