probably easier to look at the S800 forum as most of the pictures are all over the place so not easy to find quickly

this is what the S800 looked like before i got it

and this is what it'll look like when iv'e finished

:D plan is to make it not look like it has an engine 2.5 times the size of the original. the bonnet bulge will be slightly bigger and a bit of wing venting but hopefully look fairly tame.
a mate of mine had a s800 when we were 17 he gave £20.00 for it running and driving we all thought what a strange little thing with the little bike carbs he used it a while then it got left in a council lock up towed away as scrap, there was a guy in manchester specialised in them think his name is wilson or something he was a bit camp he also had a few big black chrysler 70,s saloons

got more bits off. the new rad is actually too large for the car and is now squashed at the filler neck where the bonnet has to be shut quite hard to close fully (this is how it came fitted)

Image

so the plan is to cut the neck off, weld in a flat plate and weld in a neck on the side of the rad. it wont look pretty but it has got to be done. may as well keep the big rad on the car.

haven't done a great deal recently apart from polishing some of the bright work. the rear lights that were really bad on the plastic lenses have come up quite well. although the top lense should be red it has come up quite orange so i may as well use them for the indicators and put red led bulbs where the reverse lights should be. got new inner and outer gaskets coming for the lights.

i also had the first bits powder coated

and the trims haven't come up too bad

i will get loads more bits powder coated over the next year or so :)

it will fit once it's modified. don't forget i'll be fitting a tow bar so it'll need all the help it can get ;)

mmm. shiney bits

Image

also anyone got any idea why only a few had these rear lights?

Image

edit;

they might actually be Valiant rear lights instead of Barracuda lights. :?

well i'm keeping the rear lights as they are as they seem very expencive to replace for original style.

iv'e got loads of LED bulbs from china. red LEDs for the side and brake so the rear lights dont look pink, plus i'll convert one reverse lamp to be a fog light which'll turn red when the light is on. i have a white LED for the reverse light. they are super bright.

just need to get some orange LEDs for the indicators. the lamps have now been fully cleaned and new gaskets fitted 8-)

i just cleaned and polished the originals. autosol works really well on plastics. the top lenses should be red but they have faded to orange. they were really rough so i had to take some fine wet and dry to them to clean up the rough faded surface. now perfect for the indicators :)

got a pair of these to restore (cheers Pete :thumbright: )

Image

iv'e made a start on one side

Image

iv' got new seals, pistons, discs etc so thats easy. bearings i'll get soon but sadly the spindle is worn so the bearings are lose and spin. well the answer is to machine a cone/spacer to go between the bearings so the nut can be done up very tight and the spacer keeps the correct bearing clearance. no more wear :) (it's a known race mod anyway and i'll be doing the same to the S800)

also small red led fitted into what now will be the indicator lamp (the lamp underneath will still be side/brake lights)

Image

the reason is it'll glow red when the side lights are on but will still flash orange for the indicator. i also have an electronic flasher unit coming from Hong kong because led lights use such a small amount of power a normal flasher unit wont work. £1.50 delivered

should be able to leave the sidelights on for a week and still not have a flat battery :P
