I think the notion of use it or lose is admirable, however my two penneth
I went to HRDs with my boys this year, yes the weather wasn't great abut the atmosphere was good and he evening entertainment was great.
However, you can't always run a business based on atmosphere, some of the basics need addressing, e.g.
Seating is rough and rotten, leaves marks on your trousers from the mould on the seat planks
Loos, well, basic is fine but the paying public expects better facilities in is day and age
Track time, yep, that isn't the best but you can't help the oil downs, but shutting the track early is a bit cheeky.
Don't get me wrong, I can live with the seats, the loos etc, I guess we are a bit more forgiving as it's an intrinsic part of our hobby.....but it doesn't give the right impression to newcomers or families taking the kids
People's expectation is much higher than it was 20 years ago, so raise the standards a bit and you will hopefully get more people coming

I too love Shakey and not only because I'm 30 miles away. The facilities are poor but with poor attendances due to weather forecasts ( that are usually wrong) and the economy over the last few years,I can't see they can do much more in the short term. However, the economy seems to be improving and so might attendance.
I'm going to site my caravan there next season, it's only £125 for the year and that will be a bonus with only me driving.
See you there in 2014

I travel twice the distance to Shakey than I do to the Pod, but I'd rather go there any day
