Well I don't know what else you have that would suit?........but why don't you fit a floor shifter in the Dart, disconnect the tree change for now....8 or 9 x 26" slicks....3.55 gears, that'll do!.....thats all you need...oh and a snubber....one SS car.

Mainly because I am putting my effort into the AWB. ;)

Or I could spend a load of money on a ROAD car and attempt to turn it into a pseudo race car again...

I am NOT knocking the event - I think it is great - it is just that I am not prepared to take a knife to a gun fight, and I do not want to wreck the Dart - I have already done that once!!! ;)

We'll money paid today so I'll be there with big bopper :-) who knows it might even surprise us!! Les the 60ft times really let the car down, the best was a 120 ish mph at 12.2/12.3 I think so were trying a t/brake and seeing what happens as the car obviously makes good mph after 60ft

Well done that man.
Don't worry who's in the other lane. Just try and beat your previous run each time. Good fun and worked to get me consistent on my bike :thumbright:

Yes your 60ft times must be real bad to run 120 at 12.2 as I said....around 1 sec off your ET. Using the t/brake will only make it worse I'm afraid as its set up now, suprised though as if you've got SS springs they should contol the rear end well, perhaps you could look at the front suspension as thats most important.....A-arm bind/shocks/travel, chassis rigidity etc....maybe a good idea to chat to some other racers whilst your there about it, thats where you can learn a lot, they can observe the car and then comment.

Probably lack of torque out of the 383 but it will scream at the top end.

Alternative is to run mental gears

Is there an easy way without stripping the rear axle to work out what gears it has already?

Yep. Mark the tyre and do one full revolution 360 degrees.
Whilst turning the wheel count how many revolutions the propshaft does.

For example. One wheel revolution causes just over three and a half full revolutions on the shaft. Roughly 3:55.1. :thumbright:

Clearly the Tyre height has a major impact on this as well....Queue Dave Robson's maths spreadsheet!!!

Peter i never thaught i would say this mate, but you have not got a clue what your yapping about ,,,Winners of class so far Dan Williams small block Chevy, second winner Simon Parker small block chevy,,, Have you ever ran a car in a situation were you have 4 Q rounds then go 4 rounds against allcomers .....Or is your experiance based on turning up at the nats ,Beating up someone in a 318 four door then coming on here like a returning hero,,,Pete your a mate someone who set me on this path and off all the people on here who are capable of building a car to do this its you,,,When you get fed up trying to go in a straight line in that Altered i am sure the likes of Parker ,Williams ,and Brown will give you a lesson in RACING for real....I am not having a go Pete just trying to get you to see what this is meant to be ,a one time a year bit of fun .....When is my membership going to run out so i do not have to constantly defend something i believe in ...Some mod please put me out of my misery

Lez has nailed it ,,,you do not need a monster motor ,you need one that will run for 8 passes without eating itself,,,,,,You can bring any gun you like ,but ya better know how to use it..I for one will never bother with a stroker motor again ...440 ,383 ....just as nature intended
