Lifter dilemma
Moderator: Moderators
I shouldn't be telling you this....we're in the business of selling cams and lifters.
To the man who posted about the Schubecks..RIGHT ON!!! There is no better lifter in the industry.
Can you re-use lifters.....Yes and No.....
In your case (20 Miles) you probably can but it will take a little work.
Start out by installing all the lifters, now rotate the engine and watch each lifter. If they all rotate as they cycle you can go to the next step, if they don't, start swapping them around until every lifter rotates with the cam. Use only motor oil for lubrication.
The next step is to intall the rocker arms and crank the motor over (By Hand) again, if they all rotate with full spring pressure your done. If not start swapping them around until every lifter rotates, as you swap them around make sure they turn before you bolt down the shafts and then do the pressure test.
Once you get everything working correctly, put a gob (Now there's a precise measurement) of cam lube on the base of each lifter and seal it up, ADD A CAN OF E.O.S. Neil has it in stock and follow break-in proceedures, most important... keep your fingers crossed.
It can be teadious work but when your done you should be fine and you'll be an expert at installing loaded rocker shafts. I would give you a 80% chance of success.
Good Luck
